Auqib Nabi hails from Jammu and Kashmir, a region that has produced a growing number of cricketers competing in Indian domestic cricket. He came up through the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association's age-group structures before progressing to the senior side.
Nabi plays for Jammu and Kashmir in the principal BCCI domestic tournaments, including the Ranji Trophy (first-class), the Vijay Hazare Trophy (List A) and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (Twenty20). As a seam bowler, he has been part of the Jammu and Kashmir attack alongside other players from the state in recent domestic seasons.
Cricketers such as Nabi reflect the broadening base of competitive cricket in northern India and, in particular, the steady emergence of players from Jammu and Kashmir on the national domestic circuit, following in the path of senior J&K representatives such as Parvez Rasool.
