Namma Metro was conceived to ease congestion on Bengaluru's road network and is implemented in phases by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Karnataka. The Purple Line, which runs broadly east–west across the city, was the first metro corridor to open in Bengaluru, with the Mysuru Road segment forming its western reach. Attiguppe is one of the intermediate stations on this western stretch, situated between Vijayanagar and Deepanjali Nagar.
Feeder services operated by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), along with auto-rickshaws and other forms of road transport, link the station to neighbourhoods that are not directly on the metro network.
Attiguppe station improves public transport access for residents of west Bengaluru, reducing dependence on road-based commuting along the busy Mysuru Road and Magadi Road catchments. It is part of a continuous metro corridor that links western suburbs with the central business district around Majestic and Cubbon Park, and onward to the IT hubs in eastern Bengaluru.
