Kulkarni hails from Maharashtra and progressed through the state's age-group cricket structure. His performances in junior cricket earned him selection into the Maharashtra senior squad and subsequently into India's youth representative teams.
Kulkarni represents Maharashtra in domestic competitions organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), including red-ball and limited-overs tournaments such as the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
He was part of the India Under-19 squad that competed in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in South Africa in early 2024, where India finished as runners-up. As an opening batter and part-time off-spinner, he was used as a multi-skill option in the playing XI.
Kulkarni was signed by the Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the 2024 Indian Premier League season, becoming one of several uncapped Indian players inducted into the franchise's squad through the auction.
Kulkarni is regarded as part of the new generation of Indian all-rounders emerging from the Maharashtra cricketing system, alongside the broader cohort of Under-19 players who have transitioned into professional T20 leagues and senior domestic cricket.
