The Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) is a registered society established by the Indian Army to organise and oversee educational institutions for the wards of Army personnel and, in many cases, civilian children as well. Operating under the aegis of the Adjutant General's Branch at Army Headquarters, it functions as the apex body for a network of schools and professional colleges spread across cantonments and military stations in India.

The Indian Army runs a large welfare apparatus for serving soldiers, veterans and their families. Education is a significant component of this welfare effort, given the frequent transfers of Army personnel and the resulting need for schools that maintain a consistent standard across stations. AWES was created to consolidate the management of Army-run schools and to extend the network into higher and professional education.
AWES administers several categories of educational institutions:
AWES conducts a centralised screening process for the recruitment of teachers to Army Public Schools. Candidates who clear the screening become eligible to apply to individual schools within the network. The day-to-day management of each school is overseen by a local managing committee, while AWES provides overall policy direction, curriculum guidelines, and administrative coordination.
AWES is among the larger non-governmental school networks in India in terms of geographical spread, with institutions present in most major cantonments. By standardising recruitment, curriculum oversight and administration, it allows children of serving personnel to transition between schools at different stations with comparatively little disruption. Its professional colleges further provide pathways into higher education within an organised welfare framework.
