Arjun Rampal

Arjun Rampal is an Indian film actor, producer, model and television host who works primarily in Hindi cinema. He came to prominence as a fashion model in the 1990s before transitioning to films in the early 2000s, and is known for his work in mainstream Hindi productions across genres including action, drama and biographical cinema.

Background

Rampal began his professional career as a fashion model, becoming one of the prominent male faces in the Indian modelling circuit during the 1990s. He walked the ramp for several leading Indian designers and appeared in print and television advertising campaigns before moving to acting.

Film career

Rampal made his acting debut in Hindi cinema in the early 2000s. Over the following years he featured in a range of productions, working with established directors and production houses in the Hindi film industry. His filmography includes ensemble dramas, action films and character-driven roles.

He received the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Rock On!! (2008), directed by Abhishek Kapoor, in which he portrayed the guitarist Joe Mascarenhas as part of a fictional rock band. The film, produced by Excel Entertainment, became a notable critical success and brought him wider recognition as an actor.

Rampal has also appeared in films such as Om Shanti Om (2007) directed by Farah Khan, and the biographical crime drama Daddy (2017), in which he played the lead role and which he also co-produced. Daddy, directed by Ashim Ahluwalia, was based on the life of the Mumbai-based politician and former gangster Arun Gawli.
