Arbaaz Khan belongs to the Khan film family of Mumbai. His father, Salim Khan, is one half of the celebrated screenwriting duo Salim–Javed, whose work shaped Hindi commercial cinema in the 1970s. His elder brother Salman Khan and younger brother Sohail Khan are also active in the film industry as actors and producers.
Arbaaz Khan began his screen career in the 1990s, taking on supporting roles in mainstream Hindi films. He gained wider recognition for playing the antagonist in the action film Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998) opposite his brother Salman Khan. He has since featured in a range of films across genres, often in supporting parts, and has also appeared in television and digital projects, including hosting and chat-show formats.
In 2010, under his banner Arbaaz Khan Productions, he produced Dabangg, an action-drama directed by Abhinav Kashyap and starring Salman Khan as police officer Chulbul Pandey. The film became one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of its year and spawned a franchise. Arbaaz Khan directed the sequel, Dabangg 2 (2012), and continued as producer on subsequent instalments in the series.
Arbaaz Khan's principal contribution to Hindi cinema lies in his role as a producer. The Dabangg franchise revived the popularity of the masala action genre in the 2010s and established a template that influenced several subsequent Hindi action films.
