Anurag University is a state private university located in Venkatapur, Ghatkesar, in the Medchal–Malkajgiri district of Telangana, India. The university is situated on the eastern outskirts of Hyderabad and offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes across engineering, sciences, pharmacy, management, and allied disciplines.

The institution evolved from the Anurag Group of Institutions, an engineering college that operated for several years as an autonomous affiliate of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTUH). After meeting the criteria laid down by the Government of Telangana for the upgrade of established private institutions, it was conferred university status and began functioning as Anurag University.
The campus lies along the Hyderabad–Warangal highway corridor in Ghatkesar mandal, an area that has emerged as one of the principal education clusters on the eastern fringe of the Hyderabad metropolitan region.

The Venkatapur campus houses academic blocks for engineering, pharmacy, sciences and management, along with research laboratories, a central library, hostels, sports facilities and an auditorium. Specialised laboratories support work in fields such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, and computational research.
Departments at the university undertake sponsored research and consultancy in collaboration with national funding agencies and industry partners. The pharmacy programme is recognised by the Pharmacy Council of India, and engineering and management programmes are offered under the regulatory framework of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Anurag University is among a group of private institutions in Telangana that have transitioned from affiliated autonomous colleges into full-fledged universities, reflecting the state's policy of expanding higher education capacity through regulated private participation. Its location in Ghatkesar contributes to the academic profile of the eastern Hyderabad belt, which also hosts several other engineering and professional institutions.
