Anuppampattu is a wayside halt on the northern arm of the Chennai suburban network, situated between Athipattu and Minjur on the corridor running from Chennai Beach towards Gummidipoondi. The station primarily caters to local residents and workers commuting to industrial estates and the port-related establishments along the northern Chennai belt.
The station is served by Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) suburban trains operating on the Chennai Beach–Sullurpeta and Chennai Beach–Gummidipoondi routes. Long-distance express and mail trains pass through without halting.
Anuppampattu lies in the northern outskirts of the Chennai metropolitan area, close to the Ennore industrial belt. The surrounding region includes thermal power facilities, port-related infrastructure of Kamarajar Port at Ennore, and residential settlements that depend on the suburban rail link for daily access to central Chennai.
