Anshu Jamsenpa belongs to the Monpa community of Arunachal Pradesh and is based in Bomdila in the West Kameng district. She took up mountaineering as an adult and is a mother of two, a fact often highlighted in coverage of her climbs because she balanced family responsibilities with high-altitude expeditions. She has been associated with the Arunachal Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Association (AMASA) in promoting adventure sports in the state.
Jamsenpa has summited Mount Everest (8,848.86 m) on multiple occasions, becoming the first Indian woman to record several Everest summits over the course of her career. Her expeditions have been undertaken from the Nepal side via the South Col route, and have drawn attention for the short interval between successive summits within a single climbing season — a feat referred to in mountaineering circles as a "double ascent."
Beyond expedition climbing, Jamsenpa has spoken at public events on mountaineering, women's participation in adventure sports, and youth development in the Northeast. She has been associated with awareness campaigns linking climbing to themes such as environmental conservation and national integration.
