Geography

Anklav is situated in the eastern part of Anand district, in the alluvial plains between the Mahi and Sabarmati river systems. The terrain is generally flat and fertile, suited to intensive cultivation. The town is connected by district roads to Anand, Borsad and Vadodara, the major urban centres in its vicinity.

Administration

Anklav serves as the headquarters of Anklav taluka, one of the administrative subdivisions of Anand district. Local civic administration is handled at the village/town panchayat level, while the taluka office coordinates revenue, land records and rural development functions for the cluster of villages within its jurisdiction.

Anand district itself was carved out of the larger Kheda district in 1997, and Anklav taluka was subsequently constituted as a separate taluka within the new district to bring administration closer to the rural population of the area.

Economy

The economy of Anklav and its surrounding villages is predominantly agrarian. Major crops include tobacco, paddy, wheat, bajra and various vegetables. The Charotar belt is well known for its cooperative dairy network associated with the Amul movement headquartered at Anand, and milk collection societies operate widely in villages around Anklav.

Demographics and society

The population is largely Gujarati-speaking, with the Patidar community having a significant presence in the Charotar region, alongside other communities engaged in farming, trade and services. Like much of Charotar, Anklav has a notable diaspora, with families settled in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and East Africa, contributing to remittance flows and community institutions in the area.

Education and civic amenities

Anklav has primary and secondary schools run by the state government and local trusts, along with health sub-centres and a rural police station. For higher education and specialised healthcare, residents typically travel to Anand, Vallabh Vidyanagar or Vadodara.

Significance

As the seat of a taluka, Anklav functions as a service centre for a cluster of villages, hosting government offices, markets, banks and educational institutions that support the rural hinterland. Its location within the broader Charotar region links it to the wider agricultural and cooperative economy of central Gujarat.
