The station serves Anaparthi, a town in the Godavari delta region of coastal Andhra Pradesh. It functions primarily as a halt for passenger and selected express services that operate along the Vijayawada–Visakhapatnam corridor, one of the busiest sections of the Indian Railways network.
Anaparti lies between the major junctions of Rajahmundry and Samalkot Junction. The line passing through the station is electrified and double-tracked, enabling the operation of long-distance mail, express, and freight trains. The station provides connectivity to towns and cities such as Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Eluru, Kakinada, and beyond.
The station falls under the administrative jurisdiction of the Vijayawada railway division. Following the reorganisation of Indian Railways zones, this section was placed under the South Coast Railway zone, with its headquarters at Visakhapatnam.
As a wayside station on the Howrah–Chennai trunk route, Anaparti contributes to the local connectivity of the Godavari delta, supporting daily commuters, agricultural produce movement, and access to nearby urban centres. The town and its surrounding region are known for paddy cultivation and horticulture, and the railway provides a key transport link for both passengers and goods.
