Career

Sharma played for India in international fixtures across the limited-overs and Test formats during the 2000s and 2010s. As an all-rounder, she was used both with the new ball and in the middle overs, while batting in the lower middle order. She was part of the Indian squad in multi-nation tournaments and bilateral series during her time in the team.

At the domestic level, she represented teams in the Senior Women's tournaments organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), including the Women's One Day and Twenty20 inter-state competitions, as well as Indian Railways in domestic cricket — Railways being the dominant team in Indian women's domestic cricket through this period.

Significance

Sharma belongs to a generation of Indian women cricketers who played through the transition of women's cricket in India from the Women's Cricket Association of India (WCAI) era to administration under the BCCI, which assumed control of women's cricket in the country in 2006. Players from this period helped lay the groundwork for the broader visibility and professionalisation of the women's game in India.
