The Cricket Association of Bengal, headquartered at Eden Gardens, was the organising body for the state's first-class cricket and oversaw Bengal's participation in the Ranji Trophy, the premier domestic championship in India.
Roy played first-class cricket for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy. As a left-handed batsman, he featured for the side during a period when Bengal cricket included a generation of players who progressed through club cricket in Kolkata before representing the state at the national level.
Roy is remembered as part of the cohort of Bengal cricketers active in the post-independence decades who contributed to the continuity of first-class cricket in eastern India. His career sits within the broader history of the Ranji Trophy and the development of regional cricket in West Bengal.
