Aman Mani Tripathi belongs to a politically prominent family of eastern Uttar Pradesh. He is the son of Amarmani Tripathi, a former state minister and a multi-term legislator from the region. The family has long held political influence in the Maharajganj area, which lies on the Indo-Nepal border in the Gorakhpur division.
Aman Mani Tripathi entered electoral politics by contesting from the Nautanwa Vidhan Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh. He won the seat as an independent candidate in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, becoming the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Nautanwa. He subsequently contested the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election from the same constituency.
Nautanwa is one of the assembly segments of Maharajganj district and falls within the Maharajganj Lok Sabha constituency. The area is largely agrarian, with significant cross-border trade and movement linked to its proximity to Nepal.
