Alwarpet metro station is a planned rapid transit station on the Yellow Line of the Chennai Metro, situated in the Alwarpet neighbourhood of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It forms part of the Phase II expansion of the Chennai Metro network being implemented by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL).

Alwarpet metro station is being developed as part of the Chennai Metro's second phase, an expansion programme that adds new corridors to supplement the existing Blue and Green lines. The station is intended to serve the dense residential and commercial pockets of Alwarpet, a centrally located neighbourhood in southern Chennai known for its schools, restaurants, places of worship, and proximity to areas such as Mylapore, Teynampet, and Royapettah.
The Yellow Line is one of the new corridors introduced under Chennai Metro Phase II. The phase is being executed with funding support from international agencies and the Government of Tamil Nadu, and is designed to extend metro connectivity across the city, link existing lines, and reduce road congestion in the core urban areas.
Alwarpet lies along key arterial roads in central Chennai, including TTK Road and Cathedral Road, and is well connected by bus services operated by the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC). The metro station is expected to enhance accessibility to nearby landmarks and adjoining neighbourhoods, while integrating with other transport modes at street level.
Once operational, Alwarpet metro station is expected to provide rapid transit access to a high-density residential area that currently relies largely on road-based transport. Its inclusion in the Yellow Line is part of CMRL's broader objective to create a multi-corridor metro network covering major employment, educational, and cultural hubs in the Chennai Metropolitan Area.
