Manipur, a state in north-east India, was admitted to the BCCI's senior domestic structure as a full member in 2018, alongside other north-eastern states such as Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Sikkim. This expansion allowed Manipur to field teams in the Ranji Trophy, the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, opening competitive opportunities for cricketers from the state, including Akoijam Tenyson Singh.
Singh has been part of the Manipur cricket team in domestic tournaments conducted by the BCCI. The Manipur Cricket Association, the state's governing body, oversees the selection and administration of the team in which he has featured.
Cricketers from Manipur and the wider north-east region gained access to top-tier Indian domestic cricket only after the 2018 BCCI expansion. Players such as Singh form part of the first generations of Manipuri cricketers to compete on this national stage, contributing to the development of the sport in the state.
