Aditi Singh belongs to a politically active family from Raebareli, a district in central Uttar Pradesh. Her father, Akhilesh Singh, was a long-serving legislator from the Raebareli Sadar seat and a prominent local political figure. Aditi Singh entered electoral politics drawing on this familial base in the constituency.
Aditi Singh was elected to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Raebareli Sadar constituency in the 2017 state election, initially as a candidate of the Indian National Congress. During her first term, she became known for taking independent positions on several issues in the Assembly, occasionally diverging from the Congress line.
Ahead of the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and contested the Raebareli Sadar seat on a BJP ticket, retaining the constituency.
Aditi Singh's political trajectory is often cited as an example of generational change in Raebareli politics and of the shifting party affiliations among regional legislators in Uttar Pradesh during the late 2010s and early 2020s. Her switch from the Congress to the BJP, in a constituency closely associated with the Congress and the Gandhi family, was viewed as politically notable in the run-up to the 2022 state election.
