Acharya Institute of Technology (AIT) is a private engineering college located in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. It is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), the principal affiliating university for engineering colleges across Karnataka. The institution is part of the Acharya & BM Reddy Group of Institutions, which operates several educational establishments in the Bengaluru region. AIT offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes across a range of engineering and technology disciplines.
The college is situated on a large campus on the outskirts of Bengaluru and draws students primarily from Karnataka as well as from other states across India. It is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the statutory body that regulates technical education in the country.
AIT offers a broad portfolio of programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The flagship undergraduate degree is the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.), offered across multiple branches. Postgraduate programmes leading to the Master of Technology (M.Tech) degree are available in several specialisations. The institution also supports research programmes leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) under VTU.
The curriculum follows the framework prescribed by VTU, with internal assessments and semester-end examinations conducted in accordance with university regulations. The institution also incorporates industry-oriented electives and project-based learning components into its programmes.
The AIT campus is spread across a substantial area and includes dedicated academic blocks, laboratories, a central library, sports grounds, and residential facilities. The campus is designed to support both academic and extracurricular activities within a single integrated environment.
Admission to undergraduate engineering programmes at AIT is governed by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) for Karnataka domicile students, through the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted annually. Management quota seats are filled through a separate process administered by the institution. Students from outside Karnataka may be admitted through relevant national-level entrance examinations or through the institution's management quota as applicable.
Postgraduate admissions follow VTU and AICTE guidelines, with eligibility based on qualifying degree marks and, where applicable, performance in entrance tests such as GATE or PGCET.
AIT maintains an active student community with a range of technical and cultural clubs. Annual events include a technical fest and a cultural fest, both of which attract participation from students of other colleges in Bengaluru and beyond. Student chapters of professional bodies such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Computer Society of India (CSI) are active on campus.
The institution has a dedicated Training and Placement Cell that coordinates with companies for campus recruitment drives, internship programmes, and industry interaction sessions.
