Easwaran hails from a cricketing background and was raised in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, before moving to West Bengal to pursue professional cricket. He developed his game at academies in Bengal and progressed through age-group cricket before breaking into the senior state side.
Easwaran made his first-class debut for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and went on to establish himself as a dependable opener. Over successive seasons he accumulated runs at a high average, scoring multiple centuries and double centuries in the Ranji Trophy. His performances earned him the captaincy of Bengal, a role in which he led the side in domestic competitions including the Ranji Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
At the next level, he has been a long-standing member of the India A set-up, touring with the team to destinations including England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the West Indies. He has also captained India A on several occasions. On the strength of his domestic record, he has been named in India's Test squads as a reserve opener for tours including those to Australia and Bangladesh, although he is yet to make his international debut.
Easwaran is regarded as a technically correct, patient batter best suited to red-ball cricket. His game is built around a solid defence, judgement of leave outside off stump, and the ability to bat for long periods, traits that make him a specialist opener in first-class conditions.
Within Indian domestic cricket, Easwaran is among the most prolific opening batters of his generation in the Ranji Trophy. His leadership of Bengal and his consistent India A returns have kept him in contention for Test selection during periods of transition in India's red-ball top order.
