Tomar developed his cricket through the Rajasthan Cricket Association's age-group system, progressing through under-19 and under-23 ranks before earning selection to the senior state side. As an opening batter, he is known for building innings at the top of the order in the longer format.
Tomar made his senior domestic debut for Rajasthan in matches played under the BCCI's national tournament structure, which includes the Ranji Trophy for first-class cricket, the Vijay Hazare Trophy for List A cricket, and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Twenty20 cricket. He has been part of Rajasthan squads competing across these formats in the Indian domestic season.
As a member of the Rajasthan first-class set-up, Tomar represents the cohort of state-level batters who form the developmental pipeline for higher honours in Indian cricket. Performances in the Ranji Trophy and allied tournaments are commonly used by national selectors to identify candidates for India A and senior India teams.
