Aarthie Ramaswamy is an Indian chess player from Tamil Nadu who rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s as one of the leading women players of her generation in India. She holds the title of Woman Grandmaster (WGM) awarded by the Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE), the international governing body for chess.

Aarthie Ramaswamy emerged from the strong chess culture of Chennai, which has produced several leading Indian players. She represented India in international youth and women's events and earned norms leading to the Woman Grandmaster title from FIDE. During her competitive years she was a regular fixture on the Indian women's chess circuit, taking part in national women's championships and international tournaments.
She is married to Indian Grandmaster R. B. Ramesh, a noted chess coach who founded the Chess Gurukul academy in Chennai. After her active playing career, Aarthie has been associated with chess training and the development of young players, working alongside Ramesh in coaching activities.
Aarthie Ramaswamy belongs to a generation of Indian women chess players who consolidated India's growing reputation in the sport during the 1990s and 2000s, alongside players such as Koneru Humpy, S.
