Aarthi Agarwal was born in New Jersey, United States, into a family of Indian origin. She was drawn to acting at a young age and entered the Indian film industry as a teenager, initially through Hindi cinema before establishing herself in Telugu films.
She made her acting debut in the Hindi film Paagalpan (2001), directed by Anees Bazmee. The film did not perform well commercially, but it brought her to the attention of filmmakers in the southern Indian film industries.
Aarthi found greater success in Telugu films. Her notable works include Nuvvu Naaku Nachav (2001) opposite Venkatesh, which became a major commercial success and established her in Tollywood. She went on to appear in films such as Bachi (2002), Avunu Validdharu Ishtapaddaru (2002), Jayam (2002) co-starring Nithiin, Nee Manasu Naaku Telusu (2003), Sambaram (2003), and Anand (2004), among others. She frequently worked with leading Telugu actors of the period.
Through the mid-to-late 2000s she continued to appear in Telugu films, with reduced output as the decade progressed. Her later filmography included roles in productions across Telugu and a few other languages.
Aarthi Agarwal was among the diaspora actresses who became leading heroines in Telugu cinema in the early 2000s, a period that saw a wave of new female leads enter Tollywood. Her pairing in Nuvvu Naaku Nachav remains one of the more remembered romantic films of that era.
